John Mark Gray
17 APR 1870 ~ 25 JUL 1950
John Mark Gray was born April 17 1870 in Poplar Grove, Humphreys County, Tennessee to parents Tillman and Caroline Gray.
John had only a fourth grade education, but he read a lot and was very intellegent.
August 14, 1892 John married Annie Kay Murray in Pinewood, Hickman County, Tennessee. John and Anie owned 150 acres of land in Tumbling Creek.
John and Annie had the following children:
1. Tommie Evelyn - born April 21, 1893. On November 10, 1920 she married Ernest Hertenstein of Nashville. She passed away November 20, 1969. Both tommie and Ernest are buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Nashville.
2. Edgar - born october 1, 1895. Hed died october 8, 1985. He is buried in Ladd Cemetery.
3. Minnie Ella - born May 5, 1897. On April 23, 1916 she married Wayne Martin. Minnie died
July 29, 1980 and is buried in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Tennessee.
4. Alice May - born April 3, 1899 in Poplar Grove, Humphreys County, Tennessee on December 24, 1914. She married Dillard Edward Wills on December 24, 1914. Alice passed away May 13, 1982.
5. Lillie Thelma - born Augusst 25, 1901 in Poplar Grove, Humphreys County, Tennessee. She married Frank Wells of Plunder's Creek, Hickman County, Tennessee on April 27, 1919. Frank died August 31, 1974. Lillie pased away July 21, 1994. Both are buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Hale, Michigan.
6. Alma Lee - born March 21, 1905 in Poplar Grove, Tennessee. She married Fred Cameron Myatt on February 18, 1928. Alma passed away December 31, 1977. both Alma and Fred are buried at nickell Memorial Cemetery on Highway 100 near Highway 48 in Centerville, Tennessee.
7. Grady Gentry - born December 8, 1905 in Poplar Grove, Tennessee. In March of 1926 he married laura Daughtery. Grady passed away March 2, 1958. Laura died April 2, 1994. They are buried in Poplar Grove Cemetery, Tennessee.
Annie passed away December 14, 1905 in Poplar Grove, Humphreys County, Tennessee. She is buried in Ladd Cemetery.
On July 21, 1907, John married Margaret Adora Hudgins. John and Margaret had the following  children:
1. Dorothy Genette - born July 10, 1908. She married Neil Sanders of Humphreys County, Tennessee on September 8, 1924. Dorothy Passed away November 23, 1999.
2. Mildred Lorene - born February 15, 1911. She married Otto Jack Huchel February 18, 1929. Mildred passed away May 14, 1981. She is buried at White Chapel Cemetery in Berkley, Michigan.
3. Rowena - born March 20, 1914. She married Gene Jones. Gene died November 16, 1960. Rowena died September 26, 1994. They are both buried in Union Cemetery, Dickson, Tennessee.
4. Juanita - born March 30, 1914. She married Robert Peeler. Robert died on August 28,1968. Juanita passed away July 26, 1988. They are both buried in Dickson Memorial Gardens on Highway 70 East in Tennessee.
5. Rebecca Listonne - born February 18, 1918. She married Lloyd Orman on August 27, 1944.
6. Johnnie Edward - born February 28, 1920. He married Margaret Cochran. Johnnie passsed away July 16, 1972.
Margaret passed away November 16, 1945 in Dickson, Tennessee. Margaret is buried at the Crowell Cemetery in Poplar Grove, Tennessee.
