Elisha Stewart
1795 ~ 1827


Elisha Stewart was born in Virginia in 1795. He married Mary (Polly) Box. Mary was born in 1798 in South Carolina. Elisah and Mary had the following children:

1. Abraham B - born Perry County, Tennessee in 1815. he married Elizabeth Evins. Abraham died in Tippah County, Mississippi on November 18, 1863.

2. Sampson - born Perry County, Tennessee in 1818. Sampson married Beadie Prater in Dickson County, Tennessee on February 11, 1835. Sampson died in Perry County, Tennessee in August of 1881.

3. Lindly "Lint" - born in Perry County, Tennessee in 1820.

4. Robert E. - born in Perry County, Tennessee in December of 1825. He married Huldah C. Hobbs. Robert died in Humphreys County, Tennessee in 1917.

The 1820 Federal Census shows Elisha Stewart, two males under 10 (Abraham [b: 1815] and Sampson [b: 1818], one male 26 - 44 (Elisha) and one female 16 - 25 (wife Mary) living in Perry County, Tennessee.

Elisha died in 1827 in Perry County, Tennessee. At that time, Abraham would have been around 12, Sampson 9, Lindley 7 and Robert 2.

Mary then married William Spicer. William Spicer left his land in the Tumbling Creek area of Humphreys County, Tennessee to Mary and her sons. The property was deed to them on November 17, 1838 by William Spicer, their step-father. The deed states that it is from Willam Spicer to Mary Spicer (Elisha Stewart's widow), Abraham Stewart, Sampson Stewart, Lindley Stewart and Robert Stewart.
