Lorenzo David Hawkins

Lorenzo Hawkins was born 22 SEP 1848 to parents James and Rhoda (Roda) Ann (Neil) Hawkins. Although we haven't located his Birth Record yet, this information was typed on the back of the Death Certificate we received from the Posey County Health Department.

The 1850 Census for Columbia Township, Martin County, Indiana shows Lorenzo living with his Father, James and Mother, Roda Ann. Also listed are James' children from his previous marriage to Margaret Coonrad. All the children were born in Indiana.

Between 1850 and 1860, Lorenzo's father, James, passed away (possibly 1852). Roda remarried to a man named William G. Treadway. Roda had four more children with William. The 1860 Census for Lost River Township, Martin County, Indiana shows most of the children (including Lorenzo) living in a dwelling next to William and Roda.

Lorenzo married Mary Catherine Parsons on February 6, 1870. In the 1870 Census for Columbia Township, Martin County, Indiana, Lorenzo and his new bride, Catherine are shown living next to Lorenzo's half brother, Phillip. Lorenzo is listed as 'farm labor' and Phillip is listed as 'Farmer."

Lorenzo and Mary Catherine had the following children:

1. Charles - born 1883 in Illinois

2. Clarence Freman - born March 9, 1885 in West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois

3. Arthur - born 1888

4. Alonzo

Lorenzo passed away June 20, 1917 in Posey County, Illinois.
